Has gone from strength to strength over the past years with an attendance of around 50 people each time. Enough money has been raised that, with additional grants, we have been able to provide our cooks with a new kitchen. Which was inaugurated in January 2016. From January 2018 onwards all profits will go towards providing a defibrillator for the Village.
Carols on the Green, Friday 22nd December 2017
The weather was fair this December and attendance was up on last year. The hot drinks and mince pies were served from the front of the Green Man. The brass band played well and everyone sang enthusiastically. A modest profit was made.
The Fete Sunday 25th June 2017
The weather was good this year as was attendance, despite this takings were down from previous years. This year featured more children’s entertainments. We hoped to have a fire engine displayed in front of the hall but the Fire Brigade were otherwise engaged. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day fun for everyone who came.
Sense, the charity whose box is in the Village Hall car park, have told us how happy they are with the level and quality of the contributions they have received from us. Keep up the good work everyone. Remember that any clothing put in the box is to be sold so needs to be of marketable quality.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Ivor Stoneham on 14th February.
Universally well respected and held in great affection, Ivor was a generous benefactor who opened his home and grounds to raise funds for both the refurbishment of our village hall and his favourite charity “Help for Heroes”.
For many years he provided the Christmas tree for the village green and delighted in playing Santa at the children’s Christmas party.
Always willing to pitch in and help we are richer for his contribution but poorer for his passing.
